The Makar-Limanov invariant (ML invariant) is a powerful tool to describe the structure of an affine variety, which is defined through locally nilpotent derivations on the coordinate ring of the affine variety. We will show the rigidity of some simple algebraic extensions of domains and apply the results to PB varieties, and we will also determine the ML invariant of the double Danielewski variety.
