报告摘要：

We prove that the degree of symmtery of a closed manifold can be realized by a non-Riemamnian Finsler metric, provided that the manifold is not diffeomorphic to a compact Riemannian symmetric manifold of rank one. As a by product, we give a sufficient and necessary condition for a homogeneous manifold to adimit an invariant non-Riemannian Finsler metric.

主讲人简介：

邓少强，南开大学数学科学学院教授、博士生导师，教育部数学专业教学指导委员会委员，入选教育部优秀青年教师资助计划和新世纪优秀人才支持计划，获宝钢优秀教师奖，全国高校自然科学二等奖（第一完成人），天津市教学名师奖，天津市五一劳动奖章等多个奖项。主要从事李群与微分几何的研究，在Adv. Math., Trans. Amer. Math. Soc., Int. Math. Res. Not. IMRN, Math. Z.，Israel J. Math.等重要期刊发表论文100余篇SCI论文，2012年由Springer出版社纽约分社出版的独撰专著《Homogeneous Finsler Spaces》列入著名数学专著系列Springer Monographs in Mathematics中。主持国家自然科学基金重点项目、面上项目，教育部博士点基金项目。
