Network coding is a new network data transmission mode, playing an important role in information theory and related mathematical areas. Compared with the traditional routing network, network coding improves the information transmission rate and throughput of the network. This present talk begins with a quick introduction to information theory, and then introduces the background and ideas of network coding. This talk is also going to explain the single source node network coding theory, which might be friendly to graduate students who are interested in connections between algebra and coding theory.
