This talk is based on a joint work with Hu Wei. We study algebras generated by idempotents. For finite dimensional algebras over a field, it turns out that these algebras can be characterized by their irreducible modules homologically. Particularly, we obtain that a finite dimensional algebra over an algebraically closed field is generated by idempotents if and only if $\Ext_A^1(S,S)=0$ for all $1$-dimensional $A$-modules $S$.

肖占魁,博士毕业于北京理工大学,研究方向为代数表示论、代数群和量子群的不变量理论;现为华侨大学数学科学学院副教授;在Doc. Math.、J. Algebra、 Houston J. Math. 等杂志上发表30余篇论文;主持多项国家自然科学基金委项目。
