In this talk, the contact between cylindrical helices and model curves is investigated by using spherical curves. We give a method for constructing Mannheim curves from spherical curves and demonstrate that all Mannheim curves can be constructed by such a way. In addition, we study generic properties of Mannheim curves as applications of singularity theory for spherical curves.
