The concepts of envelopes and covers of modules have played an important role in the theory of modules and rings and have a great impact on homological algebra, representation theory and commutative algebra.This presentation gives a brief history of the development of envelopes and covers of modules.Some main results on this subject will be reviewed and some open problems will be discussed.
主讲人简介：
丁南庆，南京大学数学系教授、博士生导师，曾任教育部数学与统计学教学指导委员会委员、江苏省数学会秘书长等职务；主要研究领域为同调代数、代数K理论、环论。他曾获江苏省和国家教委科技进步奖、江苏省第四届青年科技奖、第五届霍英东青年教师奖二等奖、2001年度中国高校科学技术自然科学二等奖（第一完成人）等荣誉。在J. Algebra, J. Pure Appl. Algebra，Manuscripta Mathematica等重要期刊发表论文。自2000年起任Algebra Colloquium编委，主持多项国家自然科学基金。
