On the Hardy space, by means of an elegant and ingenious argument, Widom showed that the spectrum of a bounded Toeplitz operator is always connected and Douglas showed that the essential spectrum of a bounded Toeplitz operator is also connected. Moreover the spectrum of a Toeplitz operator with the continuous symbol is completely determined by analytic and geometric properties of the symbol. In this talk, we will discuss the spectrum of a Toeplitz operator on the Bergman space with the harmonic symbol continuous on the closure of the unit disk.
主讲人简介：
美国Vanderbilt University数学系教授，重庆大学数学与统计学院院长，重庆大学数学研究中心主任。 1992年在美国纽约大学石溪分校获博士学位。 是国际上算子理论方向的著名学者，其研究成果主要发表在Math. Ann., Adv.Math., J. reine angew. Math., J.Funct. Anal.,Trans. Amer. Math. Soc., India. Univ. Math. J., J. Operator Theory, Integral Equations and Operator Theory等国外著名数学杂志上。其中，多篇论文具有突破性的意义。
