报告摘要:
In this talk, I will review the role of de Sitter space in physics over the last century and show how it connects to Eugenio Beltrami’s classical version of the Lobachevsky model of non-Euclidean geometry. Combining these ideas leads to a "Beltrami–de Sitter" manifold, which serves as the central subject of this talk.
The exploration of this concept will take us from classical geometry, through Penrose’s Conformal Cyclic Cosmology (CCC) and the introduction of enigmatic "ghosts," to the split real form of the exceptional Lie group $G_2$. I will conclude by discussing what this Beltrami–de Sitter hybrid manifold might mean for our interpretations of the universe and its (dark) matter content.
