报告摘要：
Networks are ubiquitous and play an important role in many different applications. There has also been an increasing interest in the study of various types of network data. Some of these problems include community detection, link prediction, and network feature extraction. In this talk, we will investigate several such problems involving network data, study their properties, and explore their various applications.
主讲人简介：
荆炳义教授于1985年毕业于兰州大学数学系，1993 年在澳大利亚悉尼大学获得统计学博士学位。现为教育部"长江学者"讲座教授，兰州大学概率统计研究所所长，香港科技大学数学系教授，博士生导师。他是国际统计学会 (ISI) 当选会员，泛华统计协会理事会主任 (ICSA Board Director)，香港科技大学统计科学中心主任，以及《Journal of Business & Economic Statistics》 和 《Canadian Journal of Statistics》等五家国际学术期刊的副主编 (Associate Editor)，获得了2010年度教育部高等学校科学研究优秀成果奖（自然科学）的二等奖；获得2015年度国家自然科学奖二等奖。长期从事概率统计、机器学习与数据挖掘、金融经济等领域的研究工作，并在概率统计国际期刊发表80余篇学术论文，其中在 《The Annals of Statistics》，《The Annals of Probability》，《Journal of the American Statistical Association》等顶级期刊上发表20余篇高水平学术论文。主持港府研究基金十几项。
