The goal of this course is to give an introduction to the theory of Poisson vertex algebras and its applications to the theory of integrable systems. We will study in detail the Drinfeld-Sokolov Hamiltonian reduction construction of classical W-algebras and the corresponding integrable hierarchies of Hamiltonian equations.

Daniele Valeri is a researcher at the University of Rome La Sapienza. His research interests lie in the interplay between representation theory and mathematical physics. In particular he is interested in Lie algebras, (Poisson) vertex algebras and integrable systems.
