This is a series of lectures on vertex algebras, where the main topics are vertex algebras, modules, twisted modules, quasi modules, and quantum vertex algebras. In Lecture 1, we shall begin by introducing the basic concepts of vertex algebras and their modules, and we shall discuss various equivalent definitions. We shall especially discuss the essential tool---Formal Calculus, with some details. In Lecture 2, we present a conceptual construction of vertex algebras and their modules. As an application, we study vertex algebras associated to affine Lie algebras. In Lecture 3, we study quasi modules for vertex algebras and a new construction of vertex algebras. In Lecture 4, we study twisted modules for vertex algebras, including a conceptual construction. In Lecture 5, we study quantum vertex algebras and their modules. For this series of lectures, some basic knowledge on associative algebras and Lie algebras will be sufficient.

李海生,美国罗格斯大学肯顿分校终身教授,东师学者讲座教授,著名华人数学家、顶点算子代数奠基人之一,多年来一直从事无穷维李代数、顶点代数、顶点算子代数的重要表示与结构理论的研究。在Duke Math. J.、Adv. Math.、Math. Ann.、Comm. Math. Phys.、Trans. Amer. Math. Soc.、Israel J. Math.、Math. Z.、Selecta Math. (N.S.)、J. Algebra、J. Pure Appl. Algebra等著名期刊发表高水平学术论文100余篇,被同行文章引用超2000篇次,并担任SCI期刊Electronic Research Archive编委。主持多项美国自然科学基金,一项中国自然科学基金(海外合作项目)。
