With the recent epidemics of monkeypox in many countries worldwide, it adds up challenging for the control and prevention of infectious diseases while the world has been continuing fight the COVID-19 pandemics. To learn the lesson and understand the transmission of emerging zoonotic diseases, together with the Centre for Diseases Modelling of York University, China Animal Health and Epidemiology Center, and Chinese Society of Mathematical Biology, the Center for Mathematical Bioscience of Northeast Normal University is organizing the "2022 China-Canada Symposium on Modelling, Prevention and Control of Zoonoses". The symposium will be virtually online from November 12 to 16, 2022.

The symposium is supported by Tianyuan Mathematics Exchange Project of Natural Science Foundation of China, Northeast Normal University, York University, and National Center for Applied Mathematics in Jilin Province. The symposium will advance the interdisciplinary research, cooperation, innovation among mathematics, public health, and animal health, and provide basis and support for the decision-making on the prevention and control of emerging and re-emerging zoonoses. It will also provide an excellent opportunity for young researchers and students around the world to interact with our leading active modelers and public/animal health personnel and to learn hands-on research experience on modeling and control of zoonoses.
